“Portal of an Enigma”

March 26 – May 31, 2012


Entitled “Portal of an Enigma”, the upcoming collection that is the brainchild of a talented collection
of artists does indeed convey an assortment that goes beyond the limits, digging deeper into
that which is ordinary.

From the works of 4 painters, “Portal of an Enigma” is a show that promises all that the name
suggests. The participating figurative artists are composed of up and coming talents that all have
different voices and different styles that are equally alluring.

Leading the pack is visual artist Julmard Vicente. Playing a big part in organizing the show itself, exhibiting six works in the style that is his forte of surreal realism. Julmard came from a recent Metrobank competition as third placer.

Each artist contributed 2-4 pieces, with each contribution in honor of figures. Tied together by the exploration of this delicate theme, each work is the artist’s individual interpretation of the subject. Without any boundaries set and having been given the freedom to let their creativity flow, they have produced works with such colourful diversity that is clues to each artist’s dynamic personalities. They are: Fernando Antimano, Salvador Banares, Joey Simsim, Dexter Simsim and Julmard Vicente

This is the best dessert for me. It taste like chocolate powder densely packed into a bar mixed with almond nuts. It is rich in chocolate taste and crumbles every time you bite into it. It is best to mix it with slices of oranges. The Dalandan popsicles are a must try!

And with the nice interiors and impeccable service, I would definitely be back. Maybe next time, hubby can try their “Steak all you can” (1,200 +10%). As for me, I am looking forward to trying the Goose Fat Fried Chicken, the Roasted Rainbow Trout or their Surf & Turf Sandwich….mmmm…. just the thought of all these is making my mouth water…. I want to go back…. NOW na!

To say that Chef Ariel Manuel is a respected and lauded figure in the industry is an understatement. Short of completing his architecture degree, Chef Manuel left the landscape of blueprints to enter a different arena: the kitchen. He honed his craft working at different luxury hotels in Manila, opening his own Lolo Dad’s Cafe in Manila in 2000, and acing a spree of local and international culinary contests along the way. Now he looks back in gratitude by way of giving the chefs he trains ample space to express their creativity. “The chefs are very creative, and we’re not rigid here. They can create whatever they want. I guide them in terms of presentation and combination,” says Chef Manuel.
